Ten days left!

The stage is set for an exhilarating display of determination, and sportsmanship as the Amputee Football European Championship returns for its third edition, taking place from June 1st to June 8th in the picturesque city of Evian, France. Organized by the French Amputee Football Association (EFFA)  and  European Amputee Football Federation (EAFF), this prestigious tournament promises to captivate audiences worldwide with its remarkable blend of talent and spirit.

Building on the success of previous editions held in Turkey in 2017 and Poland in 2021, where the Turkish team emerged victorious on both occasions, this year’s championship marks a significant milestone as it welcomes 16 formidable teams from across Europe. For the first time in the tournament’s history, the expansion to 16 teams reflects the growing popularity and inclusivity of amputee football, offering more players the opportunity to showcase their skills on the international stage.

Divided into four groups, the competition is expected to reach new heights of intensity and excitement. Among the frontrunners are the reigning champions, Turkiye, whose presence on the field makes them a perennial threat. However, they face stiff competition from England, winners of 2023 Nations League Division A, who are poised to challenge for the title with their strength and strategy.

Adding to the drama are the bronze medalists from the previous championship, Poland, who are fueled by a fervent desire to clinch the top spot this time around. With their eyes set on victory, Italy enters the tournament with determination and ambition, aiming to break into the top three.

“We are looking forward to seeing them [teams] and, above all, we hope to help them discover our beautiful region and to be able to have a championship the same as the previous one, if not better.”

said Francois Daviet, Haute-Savoie Department Counselor, Member of EFFA.

“Amputee football is growing incredibly fast. After the absolutely unique European Championships in Turkey in 2017 and Poland in 2021, we are honored to be in France, in such a beautiful region as Haute-Savoie, and together with the 16 National Teams and thousands of our fans, we are counting on a great tournament and a great time in Evian”

– says Mateusz Widłak, EAFF President.

With seven days of exhilarating matches ahead, fans can expect a thrilling spectacle as teams battle it out for glory, and the chance to etch their names into amputee football history.
